Amani is a director, story consultant, and writer working in short film and narrative audio.

She is currently in post-production on Broken-Hearted Monsters, a new monster comedy-drama podcast series for Rusty Quill, due for release in early 2025. Previously, she directed and was the showrunner on Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later; the series featured on The Telegraph’s critics choice list and was hailed as being ‘pitched somewhere between Succession and Up Pompeii!’ You can listen to the series here. Amani enjoyed finding ways to make this audio experience as cinematic as possible in performance, sound design, and score.

Amani is a regular guest director at Mountview Academy, she has directed the BA Actors’ final year film projects since 2020, as well as showreels, and leads casting-for-screen workshops. She is currently writing the script for the 2025 film, which she will also direct.

Underwire Film Festival nominated Amani for the Best Screenwriter and XX Awards in 2017 and 2019 respectively for Miss J and Lazy Money. Her Portraits anthology won an Honourable Mention at the Vegas Movie Awards in 2019, while first short The Silent Gangsters took home the gong for Best Original Score at Southampton International Film Festival in 2015.

Amani trained and worked for several years as an actress, notable projects include The Spoils, alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Victoria & Abdul, starring Judi Dench, and The Kill Team, featuring Alexander Skarsgård. She loves digging into the challenges of script development with writers, which has led to Amani often joining projects early as a story consultant/script developer. She is a judge for NYC Midnight’s Screenwriting Competition and a freelance reader for literary scouts writing reports focused on book-to-screen adaptations.
